MOTOEXPERT Elite
High Performance and Elite Standard
MOTOEXPERT applies a high qualification standard for persons seeking appraiser status. This is not an open public directory. Admission requires formal technical automotive qualification and years of independent appraisal practice.
A high admission barrier
A person may enter verification only if one of three qualification paths is fulfilled and documented.
Engineer path
Engineer or master degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, vehicle technology or a directly related technical discipline, plus at least 5 years of independent automotive appraisal practice.
Automotive technician path
Formal automotive technician education or an equivalent formal technical qualification, plus at least 10 years of independent automotive appraisal practice.
Master craft path
Master craft diploma in an automotive profession — motor vehicle mechanic, automotive electromechanic, bodywork technician or vehicle painter — plus at least 10 years of independent appraisal practice.
General automotive interest, vehicle trading, short courses, workshop experience without the required qualification or hobby-level knowledge are not sufficient for MOTOEXPERT candidate status. Court-appointed appraisers and persons with recognised certification may be reviewed through an individual fast-track verification — the fast track does not lower the standard.
Quality audit before certification
Education and experience alone are not sufficient. After the admission gate, the candidate submits 5–10 anonymised previous appraisals, calculations, valuations or technical assessments. MOTOEXPERT reviews structure, technical correctness, calculation logic, photographic documentation, clarity of conclusions and completeness. The expected level of technical correctness is at least 85–90 percent.
Active ordinary membership
Certified appraisers hold active ordinary member status, without membership fee arrears and without active disciplinary proceedings. Loss of active status automatically suspends certification.
Independent professional activity
An appraiser operates as an independent professional entity (business activity, B2B or Gewerbe), carrying full professional and business responsibility.
Professional liability insurance
Active professional liability insurance for appraisal activities, valid on the date of each issued appraisal, calculation, valuation or technical assessment.
Personal reliability
A clean criminal record is required. The appraiser is expected to be a model of road-traffic safety: a clean traffic record is confirmed by the candidate’s declaration and, on request, by a current extract from the relevant national register (such as Flensburg or CEPiK) provided by the candidate.
Appraiser oath
Every appraiser declares reliability, impartiality, technical independence and compliance with the association code of honour.
Inspection infrastructure
Own inspection station, workshop or a permanent partner facility with proper conditions. For damage above 1,000 EUR, inspections require a lift or pit, proper lighting and access to the underbody and suspension.
Licensed systems and the MOTOEXPERT protocol
Audatex · DAT · Schwacke
Licensed appraisal systems
Legal access to professional appraisal systems is required. Simplified or informal valuations are excluded as the basis of professional appraisal work.
Technical protocol
Unified inspection standard
Paint-thickness measurement of the complete vehicle, OBD diagnostics, underbody and suspension verification on a lift, and clear photographic documentation.
Certified appraisal scopes
A certified scope is granted only in areas documented by qualification, practice and quality of previous work.
DV
Damage & Valuation
Vehicle damage, repair cost calculation, vehicle value, residual value and depreciation.
AT
Automotive Technology
Vehicle systems, diagnostics, repair methods, ADAS, electric and hybrid vehicles.
CM
Caravan & Motorhome
Caravans, motorhomes, water and hail damage, body construction and special installations.
RT
Road Traffic Assessment
Technical assessment of road-traffic matters, vehicle condition and event documentation.
Versatility, training and recertification
Languages
Native language plus at least one foreign language at a technical working level, for cross-border cases and foreign documentation.
Minimum annual training, especially in EV and hybrid vehicles, ADAS, cybersecurity, modern diagnostics and current documentation standards.
The certificate is valid for four years. Recertification, or another defined competence review, is mandatory; failure means expiry of certification.
Cost information is provided only after basic formal pre-verification of qualification, experience, independence, business responsibility, insurance and documentation quality. MOTOEXPERT Elite is not a mass-market product.
Public certificate verification
After positive certification, the appraiser may be listed in the public MOTOEXPERT verification system: name, certificate number, membership number, status, validity date and certified appraisal scope.
