Certificate verification
How can I verify a MOTOEXPERT appraiser certificate?
Use the public verification page and enter the MOTOEXPERT certificate number or appraiser ID. If a public record is available, the system may show the appraiser name, certificate status, validity date, membership number and certified appraisal scope.
What does active certificate status mean?
Active status means that the appraiser is currently shown in the MOTOEXPERT public record as having an active certificate status until the displayed validity date, subject to the current association record.
What does expired status mean?
Expired status means that the four-year certificate validity period has ended. Renewal or recertification is required before the certificate can be shown as valid again.
Does certificate verification decide legal liability or insurance payment?
No. Certificate verification confirms only the MOTOEXPERT association record shown in the public system. It does not decide legal liability, insurance coverage, compensation payment or the correctness of a specific appraisal document.
Candidate requirements
Who can apply as a MOTOEXPERT appraiser candidate?
A candidate must meet one of the strict admission paths: engineer or master degree in a relevant technical automotive field plus at least 5 years of independent automotive appraisal practice, automotive technician plus at least 10 years of independent practice, or automotive master craft qualification plus at least 10 years of independent practice.
Is general automotive experience enough?
No. General automotive interest, vehicle trading, short courses, hobby-level knowledge or workshop experience without the required formal qualification and documented independent appraisal practice are not sufficient for MOTOEXPERT candidate status.
Why is the admission barrier so high?
MOTOEXPERT wants to separate documented technical automotive appraisers from persons who use appraisal titles without a real qualification basis. The standard is intended to protect technical quality, public trust and professional identity.
Does submitting an application mean that I will be accepted?
No. Submitting the application starts the internal review. It does not mean admission, certification, membership acceptance or public listing.
Documents and PDF upload
Which documents should a candidate submit?
A candidate should submit a structured PDF package including identity and business data, formal technical qualification proof, independent appraisal practice proof, business activity proof, professional liability insurance proof and anonymised sample appraisals.
Can I send documents by normal e-mail?
For formal applications, complaints, appeals and supplementary documents, the structured forms should be used instead of random e-mails. This keeps the matter traceable and reduces processing errors.
Do sample appraisals need to be anonymised?
Yes, where appropriate. Sample appraisals and supporting documents should not contain unnecessary third-party personal data. The technical information must remain readable, but unrelated personal data should be removed or masked.
Why must I accept the data protection notice before upload?
Before submitting documents, the user must understand the purpose of the upload, the review route, the handling of personal data and the fact that submission does not guarantee a specific result.
Certified appraisal scopes
What is DV scope?
DV means Vehicle Damage and Valuation Appraisal. It may include vehicle damage, repair costs, vehicle value, residual value, depreciation and damage-related documentation.
What is AT scope?
AT means Automotive Technology Appraisal. It may include technical assessment of vehicle systems, diagnostics, repair quality, ADAS, electric and hybrid vehicles and vehicle technology documentation.
What is CM scope?
CM means Caravan and Motorhome Appraisal. It may include caravans, motorhomes, camper vans, water damage, hail damage, flood damage, body construction and interior equipment.
What is RT scope?
RT means Road Traffic Technical Assessment. It concerns technical assessment of road traffic-related matters and event-related documentation. It should only be assigned where the appraiser is competent for that scope.
Training and recertification
How long is a MOTOEXPERT certificate valid?
The MOTOEXPERT certificate validity period is four years. After expiry, recertification or renewal review is required.
How much annual training is expected?
The MOTOEXPERT standard expects at least 40 training hours per year, especially in areas such as EV, hybrid vehicles, ADAS, diagnostics, cyber security and technical documentation.
What is a CPD training record?
A CPD training record documents continued professional development, training topics, hours, providers and proof of participation.
What happens if recertification is not passed?
If recertification requirements are not met, the certificate may expire or not be shown as valid in the public verification system.
Complaints, appeals and procedures
Where should I submit a complaint or appeal?
Complaints, appeals, certificate status questions, misuse reports and supplementary documents should be submitted through the structured MOTOEXPERT procedure route.
Does submitting a complaint guarantee a specific result?
No. Submission of a complaint or appeal does not guarantee disciplinary action, certificate change, complaint success, appeal success or any other specific result.
Can MOTOEXPERT request additional documents?
Yes. MOTOEXPERT may request additional documents if the submitted information is incomplete, unclear or insufficient for the selected procedure.
Does MOTOEXPERT provide legal representation?
No. MOTOEXPERT performs technical and association-related review. It does not provide legal representation and does not decide legal liability or insurance coverage.
Future AI assistant
Will MOTOEXPERT use an AI assistant?
MOTOEXPERT may later use a website assistant to answer standard questions, explain requirements and route users to the correct page or form.
What may the future assistant do?
The assistant may answer FAQ questions, explain candidate requirements, certificate verification, document preparation, training, recertification and procedure routes.
What must the future assistant not do?
The assistant must not certify appraisers, make membership decisions, give legal advice, decide insurance coverage, guarantee outcomes or collect formal documents outside secure forms.
Why build FAQ before building the assistant?
A controlled FAQ creates the knowledge base for the future assistant. It helps keep answers consistent, factual, neutral and aligned with MOTOEXPERT standards.
