Maintaining MOTOEXPERT appraiser competence

Continuing Professional Development

Continuing professional development is a core element of the MOTOEXPERT standard. A certified appraiser should maintain and update technical competence through structured training, practical learning and current professional documentation.

CPD standard

The MOTOEXPERT CPD standard focuses on technical relevance and documented learning.

Minimum

40 hours per year

A MOTOEXPERT appraiser should complete at least 40 hours of professional training per year.

EV

Electric vehicles

Training should include electric vehicle construction, safety, damage patterns and valuation issues.

Hybrid

Hybrid technology

Hybrid systems require current knowledge of diagnostics, repair methods and safety aspects.

ADAS

Driver assistance systems

ADAS calibration, sensor damage, diagnostics and documentation are relevant to modern appraisals.

Cybersecurity

Vehicle cybersecurity

Connected vehicles and software-based systems require current knowledge and careful documentation.

Documentation

Appraisal documentation

Training should include photographic documentation, calculation structure, traceability and report quality.

Training record

The appraiser should keep a training record showing the training provider, topic, date, duration and proof of participation. MOTOEXPERT may request the training record during certification, recertification, quality audit or status review.

Professional relevance

Training should be relevant to the appraiser certified scope and actual appraisal work. General non-technical events do not replace technical competence development in vehicle damage assessment, valuation, automotive technology, caravans and motorhomes or road traffic technical assessment.
